What made you enter Mr Gay World 2024?

I was asked to enter as the current Mr Gay Great Britain title holder. I had used my platform as a same sex adoption advocate along with being a trans ally. I have worked for almost 10 years in trans healthcare and I’m saddened by the negative narrative that’s being created not just in the UK but globally. Entering Mr Gay World provided me with even more reach. After losing mum at only 56 years of age during covid has also given me a real ‘do it’ attitude so I saw this as an additional challenge

Now you have won what do you plan to do with the title?

I hope to continue advocating for trans rights as I have alway done. The title will provide me with opportunities to discuss this in depth. If I can help shift people’s perspectives on the trans community then mission accomplished. I take my duty as a role model seriously too. There’s many different ways to be gay in the UK and thanks to those that fought before me I am able to be married with children

What did you have to do to win Mr Gay World?

Ooh It was an intense week. We had three exams, an interview, a presentation, photoshoot challenges, public vote, social media challenges. Then 5 runways to walk on final day

If there was someone out there thinking about entering either Mr Gay Britian or Mr Gay world next year, what advice would you give them?

Do it! It’s such an incredible experience. My highlight was spending a week with guys from around the world. Being able to be my authentic self with them along with having a shared goal of creating a safer world for lgbtqia+ people was so inspiring

Tell us about your radio show on Pride radio and what can people expect when they tune in?

I am on pride radio every Saturday 10-12. I play the best uplifting pop and dance tunes guaranteed to get you in a good mood for the Saturday ahead. I also talk about what I am up to. Pride radio is listened to globally, including in countries where it’s illegal to be gay so often our voices on Pride radio are a safe haven

How do you like to relax?

How do I relax? To be honest I struggle to relax. I’m a workaholic and probably thrive on stress, I wish I didn’t! I enjoy time with my husband and kids along with a great group of friends. I enjoy the gym and road cycling for my mental health. I’m also partial to a good old Saturday night out!
